Penelope’s passion for design and jewellery began at a young age. This interest was nurtured during her childhood, as she grew up watching her father design and manufacture jewellery for their shop in the EC.

Always creating and drawing, she went on to study Art Direction & Graphic Design at the Red & Yellow School in Cape Town. She then worked as a designer in the industry. After five years, in 2019, she decided to branch out and explore the freelance nomad lifestyle in Greece. These six months were a truly enlightening period that allowed her zest for design to blossom.

After her travels, she returned to Cape Town. Inspired by the beauty and simplicity of Mediterranean trends and design Greece had to offer, an idea slowly began to brew.

And so, a few months later, Thira Jewellery was born. Beautiful crafted jewellery for the lovers of design, the Mediterranean and minimalism.
